Practical Concerns
It is important
that people have a back up plan to help them make the shift. One of
the biggest fears to be overcome is the fear of not being able to
provide the necessities of life for self and family.
In order to change
the human condition and uplift the human spirit it is important that
people work in an environment that appreciates them and treats them
with respect and dignity.
Some ideas
which could be
developed (a starting place)
Create Special Venture Capital Funds:
Pool financial
resources and expertise to set this up. There are generous tax
incentives for venture capital. Existing financial entities which are
labour affiliated might take this on as part of their portfolio.
Create New
Business Ventures:
With
capital funds and the expertise of workers, managers, etc. cocreate innovative
businesses founded on a model that treats workers with respect and dignity
and gives them shares in the business.
Union Funds:
Contribute
to these capital funds from a portion of member's levies.
Share Funds:
Individuals
buy shares at $x a share to set up new businesses and or to help support
/ employ people who have been fired because they have taken a stand.
Create a barter/local
money system in conjunction with government issued money to finance projects
and pay shares to those who work at the business.
Additional
Ideas for Financing and Projects:
Human Resources:
Along with those
who volunteer their talents, unions already have in place an
infra-structure and organizational experience to develop a master
back up plan.
Personal
Support Networks:
Each person
can help create a personal support network and then they can network with
each other.
Cooperative
Ventures to Produce Food:
Pooling of land,
buildings, equipment, expertise etc to use available land in a neighbourhood
to produce food for the neighbourhood.
